The whole family is invited to the Homestead Amphitheater, 4675 Cosgray Road, at 7 p.m. on Thursday evenings. June 25: Enjoy a madcap puppet performance of "Once Upon a Clock." July 9: Reptiles, amphibians, arachnids and more. Learn as you see and touch these remarkable creatures. In the event of inclement weather, performances will be held in the Lakeside Pavilion.

A Play Safe Day will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 26, at Homestead Park. Learn health and safety tips for your family, play games and enjoy a moon bounce. Take a tour of Sparky's Safety House, the fire department's mobile classroom. Practice crawling low under smoke. Visit with Sparky and members of the EMS bike patrol. Free.

Children ages 5 and older can learn about, explore and touch the trucks, tractors and train at the Homestead from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 9. Tour the restored caboose and 1951 John Deere tractor and make a craft to take home. Cost is $7.50 for township residents and $12.50 for non-residents. Register by July 2.

At Fun Friday "Sticky Fingers," children can play in a pool of bubbles and flour and crate candy jewelry. Bring a white cotton shirt (pre-washed) to decorate with fabric paint. 10-11:30 a.m. Friday, July 10. These special Friday events are held at the Homestead Park. Participation is $1 per child.

A cheerleading camp for children ages 6 to 8 will meet from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday and Friday, Aug. 5 and 7. Basic motions, chants and jumps are all part of this energetic, loud and wild cheerleading camp. Cost is $12 for residents and $17 for non-residents. Register by July 29.

Red Cross baby-sitting certification will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14. Learn basic childcare, first aid, rescue breathing, accident prevention, stages of youth development and supervision skills. Bring a sack lunch and a drink to class. Class is open to ages 11 to 15. Cost is $45 for township residents and $50 for non-residents. Register by Aug. 7.
