The Dublin Jerome High School boys and girls teams and the Coffman boys team are set for the postseason after winning OCC golf titles.

The Celtics girls went 23-1 to win the OCC-Cardinal Division title, ahead of runner-up New Albany (19-5). Dublin Scioto (9-15) was fifth.

The Celtics boys team went 28-0 in the OCC-Cardinal as Scioto (13-14-1) was fourth.

In the OCC-Central, Coffman's boys team also had a perfect run, finishing 20-0.

In the OCC-Capital, the Coffman girls team finished 21-3 to finish second to Marysville (23-1).

Other division winners were Mount Vernon boys (Capital), Pickerington North boys (Ohio). and Gahanna's girls (Ohio).

"Our first goal was to win the OCC," said Celtics girls coach C.D. Butcher, whose team has won OCC titles four of the last five seasons. "We've got the exact same team as last year, but we're a little bit more experienced and we have goals that are set in stone."

Jerome features Joon-Hee Shim, Catarina Seo, Michelle Herbert, Amanda Koren and Michelle Koren. Last year, Shim missed advancing to state by one stroke.

Marysville had the tightest competition in winning its conference.

After Coffman won in the first round of league play, the Shamrocks didn't have their No. 3 player, junior Sarah McQuade, for the next two rounds.

The Monarchs won both of those rounds, and although McQuade was back Sept. 23 for the final round at Mentel Memorial, Marysville scored a 327 to beat Coffman (335) and secure the title.

Marysville's Tess Fraser shot a 73 in the final round and finished with an average of 74.75 for the four rounds to edge Westerville Central's Sana Khan (75), Coffman's Lauren Stephens (76.5) and Allyson Chee (77.25) and Central's Gina Son (79) for conference medalist.

The girls sectional tournaments are Tuesday at Mill Creek, Mentel Memorial and The Links. Jerome will be at Mill Creek, and Coffman and Scioto will be at Mentel. The top three teams and top three individuals not on a qualifying team advance to the district, which is Oct. 13 at Bent Tree.

Coffman's Thomas Dunne and Jerome's Chad Merzbacher were medalists in their conference.

"Obviously, we are really excited about winning the (OCC-Central title), but we need to immediately shift our focus with sectionals being just around the corner," Coffman coach David Woodmansee said. "I am sure after the season is over it will be nice for the kids to reflect on the fact that they will always be considered a champion, but right now we need to put all of our energy into preparing for sectionals."

"As a team, we always win the OCC, so we had the same mindset, that we were going to do our best and win it again," Merzbacher said. "It's kind of funny, but once we got to that final day and knew we had it won as a team, the competition between (teammate Logan Jones) and I to (be Player of the Year) got pretty intense. I had him by two strokes coming into the last day, but we were even after 16 holes. He bogeyed the last two holes and I shot par to win it by two strokes. All of us played pretty well. Now we're focused on sectional, district and state."

The boys sectional tournaments are Tuesday at Darby Creek, Granville and The Players Club at Foxfire.

The top four teams and top four individuals on non-qualifying teams from the Darby Creek sectional and top three teams and top three individuals on non-qualifying teams from the Granville and Players Club sectionals advance to the district tournament Oct. 13 at Apple Valley.

Jerome will be at The Players Club, and Coffman and Scioto will be at Darby Creek.
