Last week's book fair at St. Brigid of Kildare School tried to promote literacy and a love for reading.

According to a news release, the school entered a contest to win an author visit and $2,000 from Scholastic Book Fair. The goal of the contest was to promote interest in the book fair and promote literacy. Sixth-graders at St. Brigid hosted book talks, made book posters and staffed the fair.

If the school wins the competition, it will get a visit from "Hunger Games" and "Catching Fire" author Suzanne Collins, in addition to a monetary award.

The winner will be announced in January.
