More than 20 Dublin businesses and residents were named as semifinalists for TechColumbus' annual Innovation Awards on Feb. 3.

More than 20 Dublin businesses and residents were named as semifinalists for TechColumbus' annual Innovation Awards on Feb. 3.

Thirteen business leaders and two high school students will be honored with awards that recognize central Ohio leaders and companies for "their outstanding achievements in technology leadership and innovation," a release from TechColumbus said; 29 Dublin residents and businesses are semi-finalists.

"For the past 14 years, individuals, companies and technology teams have come together to nominate and celebrate the best in technology leadership and innovation in Central Ohio," Ted Ford, president and CEO of TechColumbus, said in the release. "These awards showcase the incredible contribution that companies, both large and small, are having in our community and beyond."

Dublin semifinalists include:

Chaz Freutel, owner of Get-U-Connected, for the "Green Innovation" award;

Dr. MJ Yan, vice president of engineering for Yan Engines LCC, is up for the Inventor of the Year award;

OnGuard Systems founder and CEO James Mazotas, Switchbox Inc., Ryan Pratt, Editor of ListAfterList.com, Jim Haun, vice president of information technology for Assurex Global, Brand Thunder founder and CEO Patrick Murphy, MobileXpeditions found-er Mark Gilicinski, Great Migrations founder and managing partner Mark Juras and FourthFram technologies principal Ty Jacobs are all up for the Outstanding Product award;

Michelle Galligan, Founder and CEO of Dining in Denim, LLC, and Bonnie Abbruzzese, Wendy Rich Metz and Ann Maloney, all of the Neoprobe Corporation are up for the Outstanding Women in Technology Award;

President and CEO of OCLC Jay Jordan; Bob Fisher, president and CEO of Foresight Corporation; President and CEO of Neoprobe David Bupp; and senior vice president of pharmaceutical research and clinical development for Neoprobe Corporation Frederick Cope are all up for the Executive of the Year award;

Semifinalists for innovation in nonprofit service delivery are Jesse Roberts, e-waste manager for Possitivity; Mike Teets, vice president of innovation for OCLC; and Scott Hanks, recreation supervisor for Dublin; Your Milton Inc president Eric Ralph, Brand Thunder founder and CEO Patrick Murphy, MobileXpeditions LLC founder Mark Gilicinski and WorthPoint founder and CEO Will Seippel are up for the Outstanding Start-up Business award;

AEP Ohio and Mark Taylor of Cardinal Health; and Zach Griffin, principal of Evolved Energy Solutions, are up for the Outstanding Service award for companies.

Five Dublin teams are also being considered for the Outstanding Technology Team award and include: founder and managing partner of Great Migrations Mark Jurnas; OCLC vice president of innovation Mike Teets; the Neoprobe GDS team; the Lymphoseek GDS team from the Neoprobe Corporation; and the DNV Columbus research and innovation team of Davion Hill,Yumei Zhai, Arun Agarwal, Kyle Hilgafort, Noy Kelly, Vince Arnett, Francois Ayello, Steinar Lyngroth, Erik Hektor, Tore Myhrvold, and Narasi Sridhar.
