The Columbus Chinese Academy will throw a Chinese New Year Celebration Feb. 5 at the Dublin Community Recreation Center.

The annual celebration, organized by the nonprofit group that teachers traditional Chinese to students from preschool to 12th grade, will include food, games, performances and raffles from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Feb. 5 at the recreation center, 5600 Post Road.

Singing, dancing, Kung Fu and other martial arts performances will be staged in the Abbey Theater from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Taiwanese and Chinese food, games and other activities will be held in the community hall from 1 to 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The academy currently has about 200 students and holds classes on Saturday afternoons during the school year. For more information, look online at cmhcca.org.

St. Brigid of Kildare School will hold two informational meetings Jan. 30 for parents interested in pre-school and kindergarten.

A meeting on preschool will be held at 1 p.m., with a kindergarten meeting to follow at 1:30 p.m. Both sessions with include a question-and-answer time at the end of the meeting.

St. Brigid, 7175 Avery Road, will also hold an open house from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Jan. 30. Registration for the 2011-12 school year will run from March 6 to 8. For information, call (614) 718-5825.
