It's no longer an interim position for Heinz von Eckartsberg, who officially was named Dublin's chief of police.

City manager Marsha Grigsby announced her choice for the position during the March 28 city council meeting.

Since the departure of former chief Mike Epperson, von Eckartsberg has been serving as interim police chief, and Grigsby said his performance has exceeded expectations.

As chief, von Eckartsberg will make $110,413 annually plus benefits.

The official swearing-in ceremony for von Eckartsberg is slated for April 6.
