Washington Township residents can be sure that, when they need to speak to a township fire department firefighter or paramedic, they will be understood, no matter what language they speak.
That's because the fire department recently subscribed to a phone-accessible interpreter service that offers translation for 186 languages.
In the time it takes to make a phone call, an interpreter will be available to translate for both the patient and the paramedic, helping make patient assessment easier and patient treatment faster.
Up until now, the fire department had access to a translation service through the Dublin Police Department.
However, with its own subscription, the Fire Department can now access translators as soon as medics need them and, if necessary, use multiple translators simultaneously through the phones available in each of the fire department's trucks.
The Washington Township Fire Department provides fire prevention, fire suppression, emergency medical services and education and safety programs for Washington Township, which encompasses portions of Franklin County including the city of Dublin and portions of Delaware and Union counties.
