Scottish Corners Elementary School will hold its annual Winter Warm Up from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the school, 5950 Sells Mill Drive.
The community event features a pancake breakfast, the Holiday Shop, visit from Santa, a food and clothing drive, an American Red Cross blood drive and Scholastic Book Fair.
The pancake breakfast is $6 per person and includes unlimited pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee. No reservations are required.
Each student who invites an adult to donate blood will be recognized as a “Pint Sized Hero” and receive a special “thank you” from the Red Cross. To register for the blood drive, visit redcrossblood.org and enter the sponsor code: Scottish.
The Holiday Shop offers students a venue to shop for their families and features vendors selling homemade jams, jewelry, specialty gifts and more.
Santa Claus will be making a stop at Scottish Corners during breakfast. Wish lists can be shared with him and pictures taken with Santa for a $1 fee.
The Scholastic Book Fair will be open in the Scottish Corners library all morning and will continue through Friday, Dec. 14. Credit cards are accepted for book fair purchases.
Scottish Corners will be collecting fleece blankets and new child, teen and adult socks for the Welcome Warehouse and non-perishable food items for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. Items in demand at this time of year include: boxed potatoes, tuna, spaghetti sauce, pasta, canned fruit, peanut butter, jelly, pancake mix and syrup. Any non-perishable item will be accepted.
All proceeds from the breakfast will go to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank and Welcome Warehouse. Monetary donations also will be accepted during the event.
