Washington firefighters collecting toys for kids
The Washington Township Fire Department's four fire stations will serve as drop off locations for the annual Firefighters for Kids charity toy drive.
New, unwrapped toys, gift cards and monetary donations will be accepted through Dec. 24 at the following locations: Station 91, 6255 Shier Rings Road; Station 92, 4497 Hard Road; Station 93, 5825 Brand Road; Station 95, 5750 Blazer Parkway.
Online donations can be made at www.cmefcu.org.
"The Dublin community has always been very generous with donations for the Firefighters for Kids campaign," said Allan Woo, Washington Township Fire Department chief.
"In the past, local businesses, homeowners' associations, and scout troops were just a few of the groups that held collections to benefit the charity," he said.
"For some of the larger collections, we can often assist groups in getting their donations to the fire houses," Woo said.
Firefighters for Kids is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide toys at Christmastime for youths who might not otherwise receive them because of their family's needs and/or personal tragedy.
Every year, for the past 34 years, Firefighters for Kids has distributed toys to thousands of children.
Firefighters for Kids was started in 1977 by Mike Mullens, a retired Columbus Division of Fire firefighter, who still runs the charitable program.
Donations are accepted year-round for the annual December distribution.
