Dublin FIRST Lego teams advance to state

Three Dublin FIRST Lego League teams earned a spot at the state contest during a Jan. 12 regional competition at Jerome High School.

The 21-team contest hosted teams from throughout central Ohio, including 11 teams from Dublin.

Sells Middle School team Inconceivable and the NeXT Imagineers from Indian Run Elementary School both received invitations to the state contest.

The Mindstorm Megabytes -- which includes students from Indian Run, Sells and Karrer middle schools and St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic School -- was named Dublin Robotics Ambassador finalist and also got an invitation to the state tournament.

The state tournament is planned for Feb. 9 and 10 in Dayton.

Other awards handed out to Dublin teams include the teamwork award to the Lego Spiders from Sells Middle School, inspiration award to Lost in Legos from Davis Middle School and the programming award to Mindstorm Megabytes.

The mechanical design award went to Sells Middle School team Inconceivable and the Aztecs from Karrer Middle School earned the research award.

The coach/mentor award went to Coffman High School freshman Manu Singhal.
