ThisWeek editor, reporter Donahue dies

Longtime ThisWeek Community News reporter and editor Jeffery M. Donahue died early Monday, Feb. 18, due to heart failure.

Donahue, most recently special projects editor at ThisWeek who also reported on the city of Bexley, fought a lengthy battle with diabetes and numerous related illnesses. He was 56.

Arrangements were handled by the DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home in Zanesville, with a service set for 11 a.m. today, Feb. 21.

Donahue won numerous local, statewide and national journalism awards in his 30-year career in newspapers. He worked two stints at ThisWeek -- from 1995 through 1999, and 2003 until his death.

He previously worked in reporting and editing positions at several Ohio newspapers, including The Advocate of Newark, The Times-Recorder of Zanesville, The Daily Times of Marietta and The Journal-Leader of Caldwell.

He also held corporate communications positions with IntelliRisk Management Corp. of Columbus and the Bethesda Health Care System in Zanesville.

Donahue is survived by his wife Joyce, son Keith E. (Angie) of Cambridge; daughter Karen Slagle of Lowell; sisters Cecilia Armstrong of Waterford and Kim Donahue of Marietta; and grandchildren Jordan Harris, Amaya Slagle, Jace Slagle and Liam Donahue.
