Jackie Trucco has long been married to the idea of going into the wedding business.
When the chance arose to open a wedding dress boutique in Dublin, the Hilliard resident couldn't say no.
"When I was in college, I wanted to be a wedding planner," Trucco said. "My friends always bought me wedding planning books."
After graduation however, Trucco veered from her original plan and worked for the family business in contruction.
But the experience was far from useless.
"The lessons I learned from my dad about running a business were invaluable," she said.
Trucco spent a few years putting a business plan together while working for the construction company, and when the opportunity to get into the wedding industry popped up, she grabbed it.
"I got married and wanted to do this before I have kids," she said. "It was now or never."
Dublin was an ideal location and Trucco engaged space in the Shoppes at River Ridge for her business, the White Dress Co.
"When I was doing my business plan I looked at the demographics and location," Trucco said.
"I never considered anywhere else. I knew I wanted to be in this area and as soon as I had validation I never wanted to go anywhere else. Dublin is a great place."
Trucco plans to have between 45 and 50 dresses at a time and carries five designers: Alyne by Rivini, Alvina Valenta, Blush by JLM, Hayley Paige and Modern Trousseau.
"I don't want a bride to come in here and be overwhelmed, but I have a good selection of styles," Trucco said.
Gowns range from $1,400 to $4,500 and change often.
"A few (designers) I knew I wanted to carry because the aesthetic is in tune with the Columbus bride," Trucco said.
Accessories and veils by Justine M Couture are offered and everything in the store is exclusive to the White Dress Co.
"Everything you find here you won't be able to find elsewhere in Columbus," Trucco said.
The White Dress Co. opened in March and Trucco said people have complimented the look of the store at 4441W. Dublin Granville Road that sports gray walls and simple decor.
"I wanted the dresses to be the art of the store," she said. "I did a mix of the simplistic modern approach and a little bit of classic elegance."
The White Dress Co. is open by appointment from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Walk-ins are welcome if there is no previous appointment.
