Dublin's 12-week Citizens Police Academy will return, starting Aug. 29.

The program held Thursday evenings at the Dublin Justice Center, 6565 Commerce Parkway, aims at giving residents a chance to see what law enforcement is like.

"We want to give residents an inside look into our police department," Chief Heinz von Eckartsberg said in information supplied by the city.

"Our community is very engaged and involved," von Eckartsberg said.

"We want to continue our partnership with the community by providing a chance for them to learn more about law enforcement."

Topics of the academy will include the arrest process, search and seizure, traffic stops, building searches and a firearms shooting experience.

The academy is slated to meet from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 29, Sept. 5, 12, 19 and 26, Oct. 10, 17 and 24, Nov. 7, 14 and 21 and Dec. 5 and 12. Graduation is slated for Dec. 14.
