Chamber Golf Classic is July 16 at Tartan Fields

Business will be done on the golf course as the Dublin Chamber of Commerce holds its 29th annual Chamber Golf Classic July 16.

The annual event is put on for the enjoyment of chamber members and offers a day of golf, networking and lots of prizes.

"It really is fun," said Margie Amorose, the chamber's executive director.

"Our membership likes golf," Amorose said.

"We have a golf league, too. It's just something we do because the membership likes it."

"Participation in the golf classic is a great way for the business community to come together, meet new business acquaintances, and strengthen existing relationships," Chamber President Ty Day said in a release from the organization.

"And, it is an all-around fun day for golfers," Day said.

The outing will be played in a shotgun-start scramble format and there are many chances to win prizes, organizers said.

Hole-in-one prizes include a two-year lease on a new car from Honda Marysville, a diamond pendant from Leo Alfred Jewelers and $10,000 cash sponsored by Jerod Cook of Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc.

"Leo Alfred has been giving a diamond solitaire necklace every year since we've done this," Amorose said, adding people get excited about the chance to sink a hole-in-one and win a prize.

"At the registration desk you can hear all the noise coming off the golf course. We've almost always had a car and it's from Honda Marysville this year."

The event offers 18 holes of golf as well as games of skill, a silent auction, goodie bags for golfers and a chance to meet other local business representatives.

"It's an 18-hole golf classic at a country club with dinner," Amorose said. "Everything is included. It's a pretty nice deal and our membership think it's a pretty nice deal."

The July 16 event will be held at Tartan Fields Golf Club for the first time.

"We've never played at Tartan," Amorose said.

"We've done the Riviera and Golf Club of Dublin (courses)," Amorose said.

"I think there's a lot of interest from our members. Not everyone has played at Tartan."

Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. with the shotgun start slated for 11 a.m.

Lunch and a buffet dinner will be offered in the club house.

"We'll do our new board installation that night also," Amorose said.

A dinner only ticket is also available for purchase.

Registration for the Dublin Chamber Golf Classic is $225. A golf cart, lunch and dinner is included in the entry fee.
