Dublin: Winslow Court resident reports homemade 'bomb' in mailbox

Attempted arson was reported at a residence in the 5800 block of Winslow Court between 11:30 p.m. July 22 and 2 p.m. July 23.

The resident found a burst plastic water bottle, balls of tin foil and liquid in the mail box and called Dublin police.

There was no damage to the mailbox from the device, which police called a "worx bomb."

In other recent Dublin police reports:

* Rings, bracelets, necklaces and other pieces of jewelry were stolen from a residence in the 6000 block of Dublinshire Drive between 10:45 a.m. and 6:50 p.m. July 21.

A sliding glass door at the rear of the residence was broken to get in, police reports said.

*An iPad was stolen from a residence in the 8500 block of Finlarig Drive between 1 a.m. July 17 and 11:30 p.m. July 21. During the time maids and an overnight guest were at the residence.

* A purse and its contents were stolen from a vehicle parked at a business in the 6500 block of Riverside Drive between 5:45 and 6:45 p.m. July 23.

A window was broken to get into the vehicle.

* A iPhone and GPS unit were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 5300 block of Drumcally Lane between 9:30 p.m. July 22 and 7:15 a.m. July 23.

A GPS unit was stolen from another vehicle that was unlocked and parked at a residence in the 5400 block of Drumcally Lane between 6 p.m. July 22 and 7:30 a.m. July 23.

* A home in the 6700 block of Traquair Place was broken into between 4 and 4:20 p.m. July 24.

Police responded to a burglary alarm at the residence, but no one was there.

Nothing was reported stolen from the residence.
