Dublin's Vice Mayor Amy Salay will face challenger Kari Hertel for the Ward 2 City Council seat this fall.
Petitions for anyone seeking a seat in the Nov. 5 general election were due last week and the two women announced they will seek the Ward 2 seat.
Salay has been a Dublin City Council member since 2002 and wants to continue her work for the community.
"Dublin has so much going on right now, from the beginnings of the Bridge Street Corridor development, the (Interstate-270/U.S. Route 33) interchange design, the OU Medical College, and the design and hopefully building of the new Dublin Library," Salay previously told the Dublin Villager
"... I think my experience will be important to the residents I represent," she said.
Hertel has served on the Community Services Advisory Council and said she is running to help out at a critical time in Dublin's history.
"Over the next few years Dublin City Council will be making critical decisions concerning the Bridge Street District development, one of its largest development projects to date," Hertel said.
"It is imperative that city leaders are focused on responsibly building Dublin's future as a desirable city in which to play, work and live," she said.
"This initiative needs to be balanced with the concurrent need for responsible economic development and re-development."
The Franklin County Board of Elections is scheduled to certify candidate petitions by Aug. 19.
