Construction of a Wendy's flagship restaurant started this week near the company headquarters.
The 4,324-square-foot restaurant that will be located at the intersection of state Route 161 and Dale Drive in the Shoppes at River Ridge is expected to be completed by the end of the year and carry a few extras.
When completed, the Wendys that carries the new "Imagine Activation" design, will include an extra 1,100 square feet for a special community room/dining area to display historical Wendy's items.
The restaurant will also feature a tribute to company founder, Dave Thomas.
The flagship Wendy's restaurant will seat 126 inside and 20 on a patio when completed and feature "sleek, contemporary" design with items such as a fireplace, variety of seating options, Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and digital menu boards, company officials said.
After a few years in Atlanta, Wendy's moved its corporate headquarters back to Dublin in 2011 and made improvements to the campus at 1 Dave Thomas Boulevard off state Route 161.
The new flagship restaurant will be visited by franchisees and other company staff, company officials said.
