Sixth Annual Kayak for a Cure Columbus, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 24 at Genoa Park. Kayaks and gear will be provided for those who do not have their own. No experience is necessary, as professional guides will provide instruction. Paddleboards and canoes also are welcome. A light breakfast will be served prior to the paddle and lunch will be served following the paddle. All funds raised will be donated to the Nationwide Children's Center for Childhood Cancer Research. Dublin Pet Fair, 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Coffman Park Pavilion, 5568 Coffman Park Drive. The event will spotlight local rescue groups and shelters and pet-related vendors. Other features include free nail trims for pets, a visit from the Dublin K9 Unit, raffles and baked goods. A microchip clinic will be provided for a fee of $25. St. Charles Preparatory School Alumni Golf Outing, 1:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at Riviera Country Club in Dublin. The scramble event begins with a shotgun start. An $80 entry fee covers the round of golf, a cart, prizes, refreshments and picnic dinner. AARP Foundation Senior Community Service Employment Program assists unemployed Franklin, Delaware and Licking county workers age 55 and over with securing employment. The program offers paid work experience, specialized training, upgrading of skills and job-search assistance. Age, income and residency requirements apply. Classes

High Holiday Highlights Prep Class, hosted by J-Reach, 3 to 5 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Hilliard Branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, 4772 Cemetery Road. The free program offers women of other religious backgrounds raising Jewish children within the context of an intermarriage/interpartnership a chance to learn about Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur so they can honor them in a meaningful way with their families. The program is part of the Mothers Circle, free programs for women of other religious backgrounds created by Big Tent Judaism/Jewish Outreach Institute. Columbus Speech & Hearing Center, Huntington Hearing Health Program in partnership with Huntington Bank, offering free hearing screenings from 1 to 4 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of every month, Columbus Speech & Hearing Center, 510 E. Yoga classes for people who have been affected by cancer, 11 a.m. Mondays, 4 p.m. Wednesdays and 9:30 a.m. Saturdays at the Cancer Support Community Central Ohio, 10330 Sawmill Parkway, Suite 600. All equipment and programming are provided at no cost.
