Food fight winners to be food pantries

Wednesday August 21, 2013 9:43 AM

The second annual Battle of Hard Road Food Fight will be held at Dublin Scioto High School's home football game against Worthington Kilbourne High School on Friday, Aug. 30.

The second annual event pits Dublin Scioto and the Dublin Lions Club against Worthington Kilbourne and the Worthington Noon Lions. Each side will collect food and cash to be donated to its local food pantry.

Last year, Dublin was declared the winner.

Both schools will accept both food and cash donations during school hours. On game night, each side will collect donations at tables by the Dublin Scioto football stadium ticket booths. The contest will end at half-time of the game, and representatives from both Lions Clubs will start counting. The winners will be declared between the third and fourth quarters of the game with an on-field presentation.

Participants will include both Lions Clubs, student organizations and food pantry representatives. The winning school will receive a ceramic food bowl as a trophy.

For information, call John Butler, president of the Worthington Noon Lions Club at 614-314-0051; or Derek Kinzer, president of the Dublin Lions Club at 614-374-0288.
