A small portion of Post Road will be closed Monday, Sept. 16, through December as Dublin works on the next phase of expansion in Coffman Park.
The portion of Post Road that acts as an entrance to the Dublin Community Recreation Center and connects to Coffman Park Drive will close Sept. 16 as utilities in the area and buried and the road is realigned.
Parks and Open Space Director Fred Hahn said the work is part of the Coffman Park phase one expansion.
"The improvement of infrastructure includes overhead utility burial from Commerce Parkway going east all the way to Post Road and Emerald Parkway," he said.
When the city closed Post Road at Emerald Parkway several years ago, Hahn said it created an odd entry to the recreation center. During the closure, the road will be simplified from its current wishbone configuration, he said.
"Given the concentration of the work, the realignment and utility burial that section of the park will be a mess for a while," Hahn said.
"Instead of having the contractor take on the entire project at the same time, we're working with him to concentrate on the west end," he said.
"We'll get in and get out as soon as possible."
Coffman Park Drive will not be impacted by construction and can be used to access the recreation center.
