Chamber groups helping children learn to read
Members of the Dublin area business community are donating their lunch hours to help children read.
The Dublin Area Chamber of Commerce and its young professional group, NextGen Dublin, are working together to improve the literacy skills of students at Riverside Elementary School.
The annual program puts volunteers in the school to assist first-graders with reading and comprehension skills for one lunch hour per week for eight weeks.
Volunteers for the fall program are: Arielle Babineaux, Amy Bethel, Jessica Binion, Kylene Deitemyer, Evan Franckhauser, Patsy Hicks, Tricia Jarvis, Laurie Kruppa, Troy Lammers, Beverly Marsh, Lauren McDonald, Jamie Menges, Hilary Schnirel, Cheri Shemenski, Diane Staub, Connie Vradenburg, Danius Williams and Kim Wilson.
The next literacy volunteer program starts Jan. 27 and runs through March 14. A training session is set for Jan. 22.
