Rash of external-mounted spare tire thefts reported in Dublin

By

Dublin police officials are asking residents to be vigilant after the theft of spare tires from eight vehicles.

The rash of thefts has mainly occurred from 1 to 6 p.m. on weekdays, a news release from the city said.

Thieves have been targeting vehicles such as Honda CRVs, Jeep Wranglers and others with rear-mounted, full-sized spare.

Police believe the suspects have been driving a white or silver four-door sedan or a black Jeep.

Lt. John DeJarnette said one suspect has been apprehended and some tires were recovered, but more thefts could occur.

“We believe he may still have associates that may be doing the same thing,” DeJarnette said.

To report any suspicious behavior, call Dublin police at 614-889-1112.
