The leader of St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church was named Catholic School Pastor of the Year for 2013.

The leader of St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church was named Catholic School Pastor of the Year for 2013.

The award, given out by the Catholic Schools Office, was presented to Monsignor Joseph Hendricks at a Nov. 7 gala held at St. Charles Preparatory School.

The Pastor of the Year award is given out to one Columbus diocese pastor who has guided growth and development in Catholic education, faith formation and the sustainability of the parish and Catholic faith, information from St. Brigid said.

Hendricks has been at St. Brigid of Kildare since 1997 and was recently honored for starting an endowment fund for catholic education.

"When the fund's goal is reached, it is the intent that tuition costs will be maintained in such a way that every member of St. Brigid parish that seeks Catholic education will be provided it," a news release from St. Brigid said. "The model focuses on the long-term sustainability of St. Brigid of Kildare Parish and ultimately of Catholic education."
