XPO Logistics will acquire Dublin-based Pacer International.
On Jan. 6, the companies announced the deal that is expected to close in the second quarter of 2014 after regulations are cleared and Pacer shareholders approve the sale, according to a news release from the company.
Pacer, which was founded in 1997, “is the largest provider of intermodal services between the U.S. and Mexico,” the release said. The transportation services company generated about $1 billion in 2013 and had 950 employees.
Pacer will retain its Dublin location, according to the announcement.
