Amlin substation near Darree Fields

AEP to use helicopters to string high-voltage lines

Helicopters will be used in the installation of new transmission lines in the Dublin area starting Monday, Feb. 24.

American Electric Power will start the installation of new high-voltage transmission lines on seven existing structures and three new poles as part of the new Amlin substation near Darree Fields.

AEP Ohio will use helicopters to hang new wires and a news release from Dublin says the method is expected to have a low impact on the landscape.

The use of helicopters in the project is scheduled to start Monday, Feb. 24, if weather allows.

When the new substation is complete in May or June it will provide a new 10-mile line through Dublin, Washington, Jerome, Concord and Liberty townships.

Concerns and questions about the installation of the new transmission lines should be directed to AEP Ohio at 614-883-6929 or 1-877-215-9261.
