Sheriff believes car driven by teen went left of center, causing accident

A Feb. 23 traffic crash that killed a Coffman High School senior and two Mechanicsburg residents might have occurred because one of the cars went left of center.

Coffman High School senior Olivia Aicher, 17, was pronounced dead along with Joshua Fraley, 30, and Easton Fraley, 2, shortly after the 2005 Mercury Mountaineer Aicher was driving struck the car piloted by Joshua Fraley on state Route 161 in southern Union County.

Coffman High School senior Breon Flynn was riding with Aicher and was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital.

Jennifer Fraley, 36, and Payton Fraley, 2 months, were also transported to hospitals for medical attention.

The investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing, but Union County Sheriff Jaime Patton said last week, "We believe the main contributing factor of this crash was the Mercury Mountaineer traveling left of center, after the driver lost control."

The crash report from the sheriff's office said the car driven by Aicher "... went off the road to the right and came back onto the roadway losing control," before crossing the center line and hitting the oncoming car.
