Dublin: Victim says friend made $22,000 in unauthorized purchases

The theft of $22,141 was reported at a residence in the 6200 block of Delta Loop between 8 a.m. May 13, 2013, and 5 p.m. March 10, 2014.

According to Dublin Division of Police reports, a woman reported that when she became ill, she gave her friend power of attorney.

The friend then made about $22,000 in purchases, withdrawals and transfers from the woman's bank account without permission, police reports said.

In other recent Dublin Police reports:

* A laptop was stolen from a business in the 7500 block of Hospital Drive between 11:15 p.m. March 6 and 7 a.m. March 7.

An employee was using the computer in a room and when the employee returned the next day, the computer was missing, reports said.

* More than $300 in energy drinks were stolen from a business in the 7100 block of Hospital Drive between 8 and 8:10 p.m. March 10.

A man walked out of the business without paying for the energy drinks as a female accomplice with a young child distracted employees.

* A credit card and $100 were stolen from a residence in the 5700 block of Rushwood Drive between 10 p.m. March 9 and 6 p.m. March 10. The items were left out on a counter at the residence and the resident suspected a cleaning service stole the items while there, police reports said.

* A business in the 5600 block of Blazer Memorial Parkway was entered between 6:30 p.m. March 13 and 5 a.m. March 14 after someone broke two windows.

A floor safe containing about $5,000 in checks, credit card receipts and money orders was stolen.
