A court date has been set for a Dublin elementary school principal charged with domestic violence.
Connie Stitzlein is scheduled to go before Franklin County Municipal Court Judge Ann Taylor May 7 for allegedly assaulting her fiancee in February.
Stitzlein was reassigned from her principal duties at Riverside Elementary School after being arrested Feb. 21 in the New Albany home she shared with William Schubert.
According to a New Albany Police report, Shubert sought medical help at a Plain Township fire station after Stitzlein allegedly threw a drawer at him from the top of a flight of stairs.
Reports said the drawer hit Shubert in the eye and he was transported to Mount Carmel St. Ann's Hospital for treatment.
The police report said Stitzlein admitted to throwing the drawer, but she told officers she did not know Shubert was at the bottom of the stairs.
"Rather she implied that the throw had been impulsive and out of frustration and that she had not realized Bill was at the bottom of the staircase," the report said.
In the report, New Albany Police Officer Garrett Fernander said Stitzlein smelled of alcohol and she admitted to consuming one alcoholic beverage.
Stitzlein also said Shubert had threatened to beat her with a flashlight, reports said.
Dublin Board of Education members last month approved a contract with Jeff Reinhard to serve as principal of Riverside Elementary School for the remainder of the 2013-14 school year.
Reinhard was a longtime Hilliard principal and has filled various leadership positions in the Dublin City School District during the past few years.
According to a letter sent to parents of Riverside Elementary School students, Stitzlein has been "... temporarily reassigned due to a pending legal situation in which she is involved."
