The Mid-Ohio Chapter of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 16th annual Promise Ball, 6 to 11 p.m. May 10 in the Archie Griffin Ballroom of the Ohio State University's Ohio Union, 1739 N. High St. This year's theme is Believe. The gala will honor former Congressman Zachary T. Space (D-OH) whose son has Type 1 Diabetes. The event includes live and silent auctions and entertainment. Columbus 2014 Great Amazing Race, an annual family-oriented foot race based on the reality series, The Amazing Race, 2 to 5 p.m. May 10 at Highbanks Metropark in Lewis Center. Teams of two people, adults and children in grades K-12, race around a mile-long course with up to eight stations. Clues at each station direct teams to perform tasks or complete an obstacle course that focuses on teamwork in order to advance. Be prepared to get wet and dirty. Adult teams also are welcome. Medals will be awarded in various categories, and the 25 best teams will qualify for the championship race and a chance to win $2,000. Walk-ups on the day of the race will be accepted, but advance registration is encouraged as the race is limited to 120 teams. Worthington Kilbourne High School Band Boosters, Wolf Crop scrapbook event, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. May 17 at at St. Andrew Christian Church, 1985 Swansford Drive, Dublin. The event will provide scrapbookers with 12 hours of uninterrupted time to create and complete scrapbook pages and/or cards.
