The Dublin City School District was one of 14 entities honored by American Electric Power recently for energy-saving efforts.
The district received an Energy Efficiency Champion Award from AEP Ohio April 30 for completing 25 energy-efficiency programs in 2013.
During 2013, the Dublin district replaced inefficient light bulbs and boilers, installed energy-saving HVAC, lighting and vending controls.
The district also implemented an energy-management system and received more than $210,000 in incentives from AEP to offset the cost of the work.
The work reduced the district's annual power usage by 2.6 million kilowatt hours, a news release from AEP Ohio said.
The awards were given to 14 businesses, organizations and entities to recognize a strong commitment to energy efficiency.
