Dublin Villager

Survey: Dublin happiest place to live in U.S.

A real estate survey has ranked Dublin the happiest place to live.

Movoto Real Estate ranked Dublin as the happiest city after surveying suburbs of the 50 largest cities in the U.S.

Happiness in the 119 cities was established when the real estate blog looked at personal safety or the number of violent crimes, the number of married residents, home ownership, convenience of amenities, the number of residents making $25,000 a year or higher and the number of residents with a bachelor's degree or higher.

The happiness ranking also looked at stress factors such as high unemployment, long commutes and a high cost of living.

According to the blog, Dublin ranked high because more than half of its residents are married, about 75 percent have college degrees and Dublin has been ranked as a very safe city.

"This confirms what we have long believed and what businesses have been discovering -- there is no place like Dublin," City Manager Marsha Grigsby said in a news release from the city.

"We are proud of this ranking and want people to know we are only getting better."

Westerville was named the seventh happiest city in the ranking.
