Several residents celebrated victories at Dublin's Independence Day celebration.
The event that includes the parade float decorating contest, Sherm Sheldon Fishing Derby, a competition for canines and a table-decorating contest drew thousands of people to celebrate.
Winners of the float decorating contest at the Independence Day parade included the Waterford Village Civic Association with the Grand Marshal's Award, the Hemmingway Civic Association with the Firecracker Award and the Plain City Rollers with the Sparkler Award.
Additional awards went to Chick-Fil-A with the second-place Sparkler Award and the Dublin Robotics Club with the third-place Sparkler Award.
More than 160 fishers competed in the 30th annual Sherm Sheldon Fishing Derby and winners were:
* Age 3 and younger -- Sophie Alban, first place; Spencer Davern, second; Triniti Peery, third.
* Ages 4 to 6 -- Hunter Covington, first place; Jack Alban, second; Samantha Kiefer, third.
* Ages 7 to 12 -- Evan Roe, first place; Ella Goodwin, second; Sean McCort, third.
* Ages 13 and older -- Bryce Pope, first place; Kurt Loose, second; and Jameel Williamson, third.
At the Skyhoundz Hyperflite Canine Frisbee Disc Championship almost 20 canines competed for the spot of top dog.
Winners were 4-year-old Aussie Maverick, owned by Powell resident Mike Waller in first place; 2-year-old Border Collie Street, owned by Powell resident Jen Waller, with second place; and 1-year-old Border Collie Tempest, owned by Grove City resident Jeremy Basnhill, in third place.
At the evening concert in the Coffman High School stadium awards were also given to the best decorated tables.
Winners included the Woods sisters with first place, Trish Daniels and Rita Burke with second and Jill Kennedy and Kathy Haidet in third.
