Dave Hale was hired by the Dublin City Schools Board of Education last Monday as coach of the Dublin Jerome High School boys basketball team.

Hale was a varsity assistant coach with the Delaware boys basketball team last season. Over the past few years, he led the girls basketball programs at Olentangy and Olentangy Liberty, as well as being a varsity assistant for boys teams at Liberty and in San Diego.

"His knowledge of the game and his experience as a head coach and as an assistant in both boys and girls basketball as well as in boys volleyball was intriguing," Jerome athletics director Nick Magistrale said. "He really has a passion for the game."

The Celtics finished 4-16 overall this season, but won three of their last six games after starting 1-13. They finished 4-10 in OCC-Cardinal, tying Olentangy for fifth place behind champion Westerville South at 14-0.

"Jerome is a school that is very similar to Liberty," said Hale, who also leads the boys volleyball program at Liberty. "Both schools have similar expectations from kids and parents, so I felt comfortable with the transition of going over there."
