The Dublin Coffman High School boys basketball team earned a share of the OCC-Central Division championship with a 55-49 overtime win over host Upper Arlington on Feb. 18. The loss ended the Golden Bears' 38-game regular-season winning streak.
Coffman and UA both finished 13-1 in the league, followed by Thomas Worthington (9-5), Hilliard Davidson (7-7), Hilliard Darby (5-9), Worthington Kilbourne (5-9), Central Crossing (2-12) and Westland (2-12).
UA, which had won the OCC-Central title outright last season by finishing 14-0, had won the first meeting on Coffman's home court 53-52 on Jan. 14 behind 29 points from Miami University recruit Brian Sullivan.
In the rematch, UA erased a 12-point second-half deficit to force overtime but missed all eight of its shots from the field in the extra period, in which the Bears were outscored 7-1.
Christian Heine had 20 points to lead Coffman, which improved to 16-3 overall. Zack Riddle and Matt DiThomas added 14 and 12 points, respectively, for the Shamrocks. Sullivan had 23 points to lead UA, which dropped to 19-1 overall to fall one win shy of its second undefeated regular season in a row.
