The Dublin Jerome High School girls soccer team won its second consecutive district title under coach Josh Brader by defeating Worthington Kilbourne 7-0 on Oct. 27 at Canal Winchester.
The Celtics improved to 15-1-3 and play Hilliard Davidson in a regional semifinal Thursday, Nov. 1, at Gahanna.
Last season, Jerome defeated Olentangy Orange 7-0 in a district final on its way to the state final, where it lost to Strongsville 1-0.
The winner will play Dublin Coffman or Pickerington North in a regional final Saturday, Nov. 3. Jerome and North tied at 1 on Sept. 13.
Against Kilbourne, Lindsay Agnew scored two goals and Kaitlin Miller, Makenzie Costner, Andrea Davidson, Caitlin Clancy and Keemia Rashidi each scored one.
"You see that score and you think it was really one-sided," Brader said. "As we got a hold of the ball we started to control the game, but Kilbourne came out really strong. Their kids worked extremely hard. It was only 2-0 at halftime. We just reorganized a little bit at halftime and we had the wind a little bit in the second half. When our kids play like they're capable, they're scary. They can pile it on pretty quick."
Agnew and Marissa Martin scored in a 2-0 win over Grove City in a district semifinal Oct. 23 at home.
