Coffman, Scioto wrestlers set for team tourney

The Dublin Coffman High School wrestling team earned the sixth seed in Division I, Region 5-A and Scioto is seeded eighth in the same region in the inaugural state dual-meet tournament that begins Wednesday, Jan. 23.

The Shamrocks will compete against third-seeded Olentangy Orange in the first round, with the winner facing second-seeded Delaware or seventh-seeded Westerville Central in the second round Jan. 30 at a site to be determined.

The Irish will open against top-seeded and host Marysville in the first round, with the winner facing fourth-seeded Ashland or fifth-seeded Olentangy in the second round Jan. 30 at a site to be determined.

Coffman and Scioto would not meet until a regional semifinal, which would take place Jan. 30 at the same site as the second-round matchups.

Coffman's first-round site was to be announced Jan. 15.

Coffman competed in the nine-team Porter Memorial Tournament on Jan. 12 at Hilliard Bradley, finishing eighth (36 points) behind champion Hilliard Darby (158).

Jerome coach Adam Huddle decided not to have his team compete in the state dual-meet tournament because of the Celtics' injuries.
