The Dublin Scioto High School hockey team snapped a 17-game losing streak with a 9-5 win over Toledo Ottawa Hills on Jan. 19.
The win came in a tournament at the Toledo Ice Haus. The Irish opened the event with a 6-0 loss to Cincinnati Elder on Jan. 18. After beating Ottawa Hills, they lost to Perrysburg 4-1 on Jan. 19 before defeating Ottawa Hills again, 8-2 on Jan. 20.
In the second win over Ottawa Hills, forward Zach Vallette had four goals and two assists, defenseman Scott Carter had two goals and two assists, defenseman Cody Rice had a goal and two assists and defenseman Wills Hutras had a goal.
The Irish resume Capital Hockey Conference play when they face Watterson on Friday, Jan. 25, at Chiller Easton. The Eagles won the first matchup 8-5 on Nov. 30, marking their first league win in their program's four-year history.
Shamrocks, Celtics set for league rematch
Coffman and Jerome will meet in a CHC contest Friday, Jan. 25, at Chiller Dublin.
The Celtics won the first league meeting, 3-1 on Dec. 16 behind goals by forwards James Eastep, Alex Cathis and Jeff Davison and 24 saves by goaltender Connor Willette. Forward Matt King scored for the Shamrocks and goalie Grant Powell had 25 saves.
