Coffman boys, Jerome girls win Classic

The Dublin Coffman High School boys swimming and diving team held off Jerome to win the Dublin Classic 114-107 on Feb. 2 at the Dublin Recreation Center.

Scioto was third with 47 points.

Grant Horton and Feodor Orlov led Coffman. Horton was first in the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 47.35 seconds) and 100 free (48.94), and Orlov won the 200 individual medley (2:01.84) and 500 free (4:46.57).

Also taking first for the Shamrocks were Jack Carlson in the 100 backstroke (1:00.21) and Louie Mayo in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.19).

Finishing first for Jerome were Connor Cashman in the 50 free (22.25) and Tanner Barton in the 100 butterfly (54.52).

The Jerome girls finished first (106) ahead of Coffman (101) and Scioto (45).

Winning for the Celtics were Kristen Gaber in the 200 free (2:05.36) and Morgan Quesnel in the 50 free (24.77).

Zoe Spornhauer led Coffman, as she won the 100 free (55.7) and 100 back (1:03.42).

Kelsey High in the 200 IM (2:13.37) and Katie Kaffenbarger in the 100 breast (1:12.42) also finished first for the Shamrocks.

Scioto's Liz Harty won the 100 fly (58.33) and 500 free (5:12.63).

In diving, Scioto's Shawn Cordi (277 points) and Jerome's Felicia Duncan (252.6) each finished first.

All of the Dublin teams will compete Saturday, Feb. 9, in a Division I sectional meet at the Union County YMCA.

The winner of each event qualifies for the district meet Feb. 16 at Ohio State. In addition, 27 at-large district berths will be awarded in each event based on times from the Central, East and Southeast sectional sites. Divers do not compete until district.
