The Dublin Jerome and Coffman high school hockey teams advanced to the third round of the district tournament.
The third-seeded Celtics will play 10th-seeded DeSales at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at OhioHealth Ice Haus. That same day, the seventh-seeded Shamrocks will face second-seeded Olentangy Orange at 7:30 p.m. at the Ice Haus.
If Jerome and Coffman advance, they would face each other in a district semifinal at 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at the Ice Haus. The Celtics won both meetings this season, 3-1 on Dec. 16 and 3-1 on Jan. 25 in Capital Hockey Conference games.
The semifinal winner advances to the district final at 5:30 p.m. March 2 at the Ice Haus.
Jerome, which is 25-8-3, will be facing DeSales for the fourth time this season. The Celtics lost to the Stallions 3-1 on Nov. 25 and tied them at 3 in a CHC game Jan. 6 before beating them 4-1 in the first round of the Blue Jackets Cup on Feb. 7.
Jerome lost to Orange 3-2 on Nov. 24 and 2-1 in a CHC game on Dec. 15 but beat the Pioneers 2-0 in the Blue Jackets Cup final Feb. 10.
The Celtics opened district play with an 8-0 win over 16th-seeded Kettering Alter in the second round Feb. 17 after having a first-round bye.
Forwards Chris Cathis and James Eastep each had two goals and forwards Lucas Brush, Alex Cathis, Jonathan Lelli and Zach Moore each scored one. Goaltender Shawn Ewert had 11 saves.
Coffman, which is 16-15, defeated Orange 3-1 in a CHC game Dec. 22 but lost to the Pioneers 3-1 in the first round of the Blue Jackets Cup on Feb. 7.
The Shamrocks are 2-0 against DeSales, winning 4-3 on Nov. 23 and 4-0 in a CHC game Jan. 5.
Coffman opened district play with a 9-1 win over 15th-seeded Centerville on Feb. 17 after having a first-round bye.
Scioto, which was seeded 22nd of 23 teams, lost to DeSales 12-0 in the first round of district Feb. 16 to finish 4-28. Goalie Christian Rice had 29 saves.
