Dublin Coffman High School soccer players Sam Edwards and Ben Kinney recently were named All-Americans for the 2013 season by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Edwards, a senior forward, was one of 48 players named to the girls All-America team. She was the only area girls player to be named an All-American and was one of 10 girls to earn the honor for the second consecutive year.
Edwards had 17 goals and 14 assists this fall to help lead Coffman to a 13-2-3 record, the OCC-Central Division championship and a berth in a district final. She was named state and district Player of the Year in Division I, OCC-Central Player of the Year and captain of the ThisWeek girls Super 12 team.
Kinney, a junior forward who missed much of the 2012 season because of injury, was one of 61 players named to the boys All-America team. He was the only area player to earn the honor.
Kinney had 13 goals and 12 assists this fall to help lead the Shamrocks to a 16-3-2 record, the OCC-Central title and a berth in a regional final. He was named first-team all-state and district Player of the Year in Division I, OCC-Central Player of the Year and captain of the ThisWeek boys Super 12 team.
