The Dublin Coffman High School gymnastics team scored a season-high 143.85 points to win the district title Feb. 22 at Worthington Kilbourne.
The Shamrocks will compete in the team state meet Friday, Feb. 28, at Hilliard Bradley. The 12-team field will include Kilbourne (141.025) and Upper Arlington (137.7), which placed second and third, respectively, at district as 26 teams scored.
Coffman, which is making its third consecutive appearance in the team state meet, was district runner-up to Kilbourne last season and went on to place eighth (136.28) at state behind champion Brecksville-Broadview Heights (148.33).
The Shamrocks also will be well represented in the individual state meet Saturday, March 1, at Bradley.
Sophomore Alex Markulis won district titles on vault (9.525) and floor exercise (9.3) and was the district champion in the all-around (36.725). Junior Nicole Fusco won the district title on balance beam (9.2).
Coffman had four of the top eight scores in the all-around, with Fusco and sophomore Shannon Downie tying for fourth (35.575) and senior Claire Edwards placing eighth (35.425).
Also qualifying for state were Edwards on vault (9.35, second), Markulis on uneven bars (8.775, tied for fourth) and beam (9.125, fifth), Downie on vault (9.275, tied for seventh) and bars (8.75, seventh) and junior Anna Pitts on floor (9.025, eighth).
The top eight finishers in each event and the all-around at district qualified for state.
Jerome's Mangini vaults into state
Jerome will be represented in the individual state meet by junior Marissa Mangini, who tied for fifth on vault (9.325) at district.
Mangini also led the Celtics in the all-around, finishing 26th (33.775). Maddy Haub (33.325, 30th) was next for Jerome, followed by Monica Grauer (33.075, 31st) and Megan Harty (32.35, tied for 39th).
Grauer had her top score on beam (8.825, 14th) and Haub (8.75, tied for 30th) and Harty (8.725, 34th) had their top scores on floor. The Celtics finished seventh (132.75).
Scioto led by Xu in district meet
Scioto finished 23rd (109.25) at district and did not have any state qualifiers.
Monica Xu had the Irish's top all-around score, finishing 82nd with a 28.375.
Also competing in the all-around were Sonia Pattisam (26.6, 92nd), Bree Rooney (26.35, 94th) and Carina Guzman (25.225, 99th).
Vault was the best event for the Irish at district, as Xu (8.175, tied for 59th), Pattisam (7.4, tied for 129th) and Guzman (7.275, 134th) all posted their highest scores of the meet in that event. Rooney had her top score on floor (7.55, 101st).
