A Gahanna City Hall employee discovered an apparent suicide June 27 in the city parking lot.

According to Ken Bell, Gahanna deputy police chief, the employee pulled into the parking lot at 8:04 a.m. and parked across from the vehicle. The employee immediately walked over to the police department for help, Bell said.

"We don't know what time it occurred," he said. "There were no (known) witnesses. No one (reported hearing) anything."

Bell said the man was a Columbus resident whose only known connection to Gahanna was his next of kin. Police discovered a note in the man's pocket with his name and address and the next of kin's name and address.
