Excitement is building in Gahanna as the date draws near for the 10th annual Holiday Lights! Parade & Festival on November 29. "Gahanna has a full day of fun planned, beginning at 8 in the morning with the Holiday Storytime Breakfast and then running all day and into the evening. The parade starts at 6 p.m. and this year we've got five marching bands and nearly 100 lighted floats-that's a record breaker!" said 2008 Grand Marshal Mike Purdum.

Purdum, owner of the Old Bag of Nails Restaurants, has been a longstanding supporter of Gahanna's Holiday Lights! Parade & Festival and the Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival held in June. "I believe in giving back to a community that supports my business," Pardum said.

During the years that the new Creekside development was under construction, Purdum's Old Bag of Nails Pub on Mill St. was one of the first businesses to open. Purdum launched his pub concept in 1996 and has since carved out a niche for the casual dining restaurants which are primarily located in the historic districts of Ohio communities.

"My investment in the Gahanna community yields a noticeable return on my investment that goes beyond monetary value, and these overall rewards surpass other opportunities that are available to me," he said. "Gahanna Events, Inc. is a not-for-profit that has a commitment to delivering quality events.

They're committed to unique, family-oriented events that continue to evolve, and I enjoy being part of that kind of dynamism. It's a great honor to have been chosen as the 2008 Grand Marshal for the Holiday Lights! Parade & Festival."
