Hannah Park is open and the Parks and Recreation Department has invited the city to the party, starting at 6 p.m. tonight, Thursday, July 30.

The park, at 6547 Clark State Road, has been in the city system since 1999, when Gahanna bought the park.

Baseball diamonds, athletic fields, child playgrounds and hiking trails are included in the 35-acre park. So are basketball, tennis courts and fishing ponds.

A key part of the ceremony today will be the dedication of the shelter house. It will hold 150 people and is open for rentals, parks officials said. The restrooms are heated. The park is also home to Camp Friendship, an extension of the city's summer day-camp program.

A formal dedication ceremony, guided park walk, fishing game, live music by Lords of Literature and food and beverages will be offered by the Gahanna Department of Parks & Recreation. The night will end with a showing of "Madagascar 2" on a jumbo movie screen.
