The Mardi Gras gala sponsored by the Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation was a wonderful time and a great success. We were able to raise monies needed to fund scholarships for day camps and other recreation programs for Gahanna families in need of help this summer because of the generosity of community members and the Gahanna business and recreation community who care about our children.

Our most sincere thank you to Mo and Mina Dioun, who sponsored our gala, and additional event sponsor Blake Hobson of PlayWorld and Arnett Howard and his band. Major donors for our live and silent auction included Gahanna Senior Center Quilters, Sean Britt of Superior Beverage, Gardens by Monette, Me Too Charters by Mayor Becky and Buck Stinchcomb and the Gahanna Parks & Recreation Department and staff.

We thank all the business and community groups that donated to our silent-auction items with an outdoor and recreation theme. We also thank the community members who donated to the scholarship fund through cash donations and/or purchasing auction items. A detailed list of our silent-auction contributors can be found on the Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation Web site.

Gahanna school families who are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch are eligible for scholarship help. Scholarships are available to participate in any program offered by the Gahanna Parks & Recreation Department, including the summer day camp and swim lessons through the foundation. Call the parks and rec department at 342-4250 for additional information. The Gahanna community cares about its kids.
