Blacklick resident Eddie Tancredi is one of six chefs named to the savory division of the American Culinary Federation Culinary Team USA. The six will represent the U.S. at the Culinary World Cup in Luxembourg this November and the 2012 International Culinary Art Exhibition.

Blacklick resident Eddie Tancredi is one of six chefs named to the savory division of the American Culinary Federation Culinary Team USA. The six will represent the U.S. at the Culinary World Cup in Luxembourg this November and the 2012 International Culinary Art Exhibition.

Tancredi is sous chef at the New Albany Country Club. He graduated from the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute with an associate's degree in specialized technology, and from a three-year apprenticeship program at the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. He is a member of the ACF Columbus Chapter.

Tancredi was selected based on his successful hot food and cold food performances. Judges evaluated presentation and layout, composition and harmony of ingredients, correct preparation and craftsmanship and serving methods and portions.

Gahanna resident Allen Nichol is the 2010 recipient of the Innovative Pharmacy Practice Award. The award was presented at the Ohio Pharmacists Association conference, held this month in Columbus.

Nichol graduated with his pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University in 1974, and then obtained a doctor of pharmacy degree from Southeastern University of the Health Sciences in 1993. He operates the Gahanna-based consulting firm, Nichol and Associates Pharmaceutical Care Consultants. Nichol is also an adjunct clinical faculty member at the pharmacy colleges at Ohio Northern University, University of Toledo, University of Findlay, Midwestern University and Ohio State University.

From 1998 to 2009, Nichol served as clinical pharmacist at Grandview Family Practice, where he was director of the diabetes management program. Currently, he splits his time between West Side Family Practice and Grandview Family Medicine.
