Dr. William J. Burke of Gahanna was elected to the American Osteopathic Association board of trustees during the organization's annual business meeting in Chicago.

Dr. William J. Burke of Gahanna was elected to the American Osteopathic Association board of trustees during the organization's annual business meeting in Chicago.

He is an AOA board-certified family physician, and serves as the program director of the family medicine residency at Doctors Hospital in Columbus. Burke is also an associate professor of family medicine at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens.

In addition to his responsibilities to the board, Burke serves the AOA as vice chair on the council of continuing medical education and as a member of the councils on clinical education and research.

He has also held officer positions at the state and local level.

Burke received the Family Physician of the Year Award in 2010, and was honored with Outstanding Faculty and Distinguished Service awards from OU-COM.

Burke earned his osteopathic medicine degree at OU-COM and completed his internships and residency at Doctors Hospital.

Tony White of Blacklick has been elected to the Thompson Hine executive committee.

He is partner in charge of the firm's Columbus office, and a member of the business litigation practice group.

White earned his law degree from the Northwestern University School of Law and his bachelor's degree from Ohio State University.

White serves the Columbus community in a number of leadership roles, including president of the board of the Varsity O Men's Alumni Association, representative for the OSU Alumni Council and a citizen member of the board of the OSU Medical Center.

He also volunteers for United Way of Central Ohio, and is the basketball commentator for radio station 610 WTVN-AM.
