The award recognizes junior and senior varsity letter athletes who maintain a high academic standing.

Otterbein College has announced its spring 2010 dean's list.

Gahanna residents named to the list were Cortney Cotts, Moriah Heintzelman, Bethany Hines, Emily Manson, Lisa Pizzoferrato, Trenton Weaver and Danielle Webster.

To earn dean's list recognition, students must achieve at least a 3.6 grade-point average.

Alex Weaver, the son of Mary and Charles Weaver of Gahanna, recently received a bachelor of music degree from the Northwestern University Bienen School of Music.

He graduated cum laude. Weaver was a horn performance major. He plans to pursue a master's degree at the University of Wisconsin Madison.

Gahanna residents named to the list were Samuel LaFollette, Clare Panning and Danielle Rohal.

To be named to the list, students must achieve at least a 3.5 GPA.

Ohio University has announced the names of area residents who were named to the spring 2010 dean's list.

From Blacklick, they were Shakayla Burris, Evan Ecos and Sarah Weisenberger.

From Gahanna, they were Katelin Allenbach, Danielle Ayres, Brandon Chrobak, Amie Davis, Amanda Finkel, Hannah Hafner, Tiffani Hamilton, Ellen Hamrick, Ray Kautz, Bryan Levin, Amanda Muschlitz, Anne Oros, John Oyster, Linda Remaker, Joseph Robbins, Natalie Seehafer, Jonathan Williams and Heather Wilson.

Chelsea Gross of Gahanna and Olivia Stranges of Blacklick were recently awarded scholarships to Ohio State University for their academic and community service accomplishments.

Gross is a graduate of Gahanna Lincoln High School, and Stranges is a graduate of Saint Francis De Sales High School.

They are among 28 local winners in the OSU Alumni Club of Franklin County's annual scholarship program. Scholarship winners will attend OSU this fall.
