Gahanna's Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) has selected a logo to create a professional image and raise awareness for growth and development in the city.

Karen McClain, CIC marketing chairperson, said the logo marks the first the CIC has developed in its 45-year history.

"Having a brand will enable the CIC to gain more awareness for the city of Gahanna, as well as present an image that enhances our developing community," she said.

The logo is similar to the city's logo, featuring an arch, but instead of X's within the arch and a "G," the CIC's logo shows dots within the arch and "CIC" in the middle of the arch.

The use of the arch represents the creation of the CIC as a bridge for the city to generate a flow of business and growth, according to McClain. The dots represent activities that are coordinated by the CIC and support of the businesses and the community. They also represent activities that flow into and out of the CIC, McClain said.

The logo is the first in a series of activities the CIC marketing committee is focused on, she said. Next, the group will select phone and fax numbers to complete the CIC's letterhead.

Future marketing efforts also will include the development of fact sheets, the review of a positioning statement, an e-mail address and a website.

The committee already has secured Internet domains www.gahannacic.org and www.gahannacic.com.
