The city of Gahanna's council office is accepting passport applications on behalf of the U.S. Department of State.

U.S. citizens planning international travel may apply for passports on Mondays by appointment and between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays on a walk-in basis. The office is at Gahanna City Hall, 200 S. Hamilton Road.

To make an appointment, call (614) 342-4090. The city does not produce the required passport photos.

The Mifflin Township Division of Fire will host its annual open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at 475 Rocky Fork Blvd.

Activities for children will include face painting, balloon sculptors and a bounce house. The township's fire safety house will be open, and families can learn how to escape a smoke-filled house.

Demonstration from the rescue crew and a visit from the Med Flight helicopter are also on tap. Light snacks and vehicle tours will be available.

All Saints Episcopal Church will host its annual St. Francis Day animal blessing at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3.

The church is located at 5101 Johnstown Road, between Morse Road and state Route 161. Anyone may bring one or more animals for the blessing ceremony at the church.

The ceremony will include a short service, individual pet blessings and complimentary refreshments.

Donations of pet food will be collected and will benefit a local humane society.

Gahanna Community Theatre will hold open auditions for "Guys and Dolls" from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at Gahanna Middle School West, 350 Stygler Road.

Two adult female roles and five adult male roles are open. Those auditioning are asked to bring a prepared number to sing. An accompanist will be provided.

Callbacks are scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12.
